Course intakes are throughout
the year: April, Jun, September and November.
Music Construction & Production Diploma
8 Months Full or Part time
The M.M.S Diploma is their most in-depth course, covering all aspects
of modern music composition and production. It is designed for those
wanting to master today's computer based studios and produce music of
a professional standard for a variety of outlets.
During the Diploma Course students progress through all of the School's
studios with guaranteed individual practical time throughout.
Learning the creative operation of several studios produces a diverse
set of skills, opening up a host of career paths now requiring a combination
of software and 'traditional' studio knowledge.
Commercial Engineering Diploma
3 Months
The Commercial Engineering Diploma is a supplementary course based around
the 'live' studio. Created as a natural progression from Diploma Module
One, this course involves integrating audio software knowledge learnt
on Module One with real life recording sessions. It is a sound engineer's
course concentrating on the skills required to record and produce a
band. Diploma Module Two is designed for those seeking employment in
a recording environment or wishing to set up their own commercial studio.
Dance Music Production Course
This short programme is an ideal option for home studio owners, DJs,
or people just driven by music. It provides a concise and intensive
overview of the dance music programming, writing and production process.
Small groups of musically like-minded people work alongside the engineer
in creating and mixing a track, each providing input in terms of ideas,
samples and tracks that have inspired them to step into the studio arena.
These are informal and relaxed working sessions where the engineer /
lecturer takes time out at regular intervals to explain each stage in
the construction of a track, demonstrating production techniques and
tricks of the trade along the way.
DJ Course
The intensive 10-week course, aimed at beginner and intermediate DJs
is taught in our purpose built DJ suites, equipped with the latest Technics,
Pioneer, Vestax and Stanton equipment. As such, students are always
working with the latest pro-DJ products, alongside pro-studio effects,
sound processors and samplers.

Dance Music Business Course
This brand new course at Manchester MIDI School has been set up to offer
a clear behind the scenes view of how the wheels and cogs of the music
business turn - steering the participants in the right direction whatever
their personal aims might be.The 3 session course gives practical, detailed
advice on how to get started and proceed with a variety of projects,
from running a club night all the way through to setting up, or signing
to a record label.
Taster weekend Dance Music Production Course
With the rise of dance music and club culture has come a generation
of people who through their experience of new music have a desire to
get involved in a particular scene - whether House, Techno, Garage,
Hip Hop / R'n' B, Drum'n'Bass... or a style as yet unlabelled.
Many top flight underground producers were often DJs by trade in the
1980s and early 90s, who through an understanding and a passion for
the music they were exposed to, moved into creating tracks of their
own. This path into the music industry remains apparent today - DJ to
producer, to record label / A&R.
This course is suitable for total beginners and provides a concise and
intensive overview of dance music programming, writing and production.
A small group of people work alongside the tutor in creating and mixing
tracks. Staring in the main studio and later moving into the programming
suites, each stage in the construction of a track is outlined, demonstrating
production techniques along the way.
If you are intrigued about what goes into making the music that moves
you, or are considering committing to a longer course, this Taster Course
is an ideal opportunity to check out the School's facilities and learn
from our head tutor at minimal cost.
