The Steinberg Key is a USB copy protection device
(often referred to as a "dongle") which is needed to use
Steinberg's software range. You only need one Steinberg Key to run
all of the Steinberg software you own - provided it is all run on
the same computer system.
The host applications Cubase, Nuendo and WaveLab include
a Steinberg Key within their product packages when you buy them. Steinberg's
recent virtual instruments and many Steinberg software upgrades also
require a Steinberg Key but do not include one within their product
packages. Therefore you must purchase a Steinberg Key separately,
unless you already have one present on the system.
The Steinberg Key comes with a CD-ROM containing informative
videos and detailed PDF documents about the entire Steinberg product
range. The Steinberg Key also allows the use of the full, unrestricted
trial versions that are contained in every Steinberg product, so
you can try before you buy.
