Just when you think the funk couldn't
get any better, Tower of Power deliver their best ever performance
to a packed house at the London Astoria in the U.K.
The band hit the stage with "Soul With A Capital 'S'" and
the place is jumping. They reeled through their stage
classics 'I Got To Groove', 'Diggin' On James Brown' and
included new tracks like 'Page One', 'Give Me Your Love' and
the title track 'Oakland Zone' from their forthcoming album
'Oakland Zone' - I can't wait!!!.
The engine room of Tower of Power's funk engine is powered
by David Garibaldi and Francis Rocco Prestia stoking the
groove to the max. The brass section was so tight, their
complimentary rhythm section with Jeff Tamelier and
keyboardist Dave Matthews just added fuel to the fire and of
course Larry Braggs who is presently the best suited
vocalist for this legendary soul/funk outfit.
This line-up breathed a new energy to the funk that pushed
the audience dance button and from beginning to end the
whole place experienced an automatic funk aerobics vibe - it
really was that infectious, you had to move your body!!!
The hidden man behind the whole gig, the soundman did an
awesome job with the sound. After 35 years this year, Emilio
Castillo and Doc Kupka must very proud of this line-up who
continue to dish out their quality brand of soul/funk.
Tower of Power ended their European and U.K. dates at the
London Astoria and return to the U.S. for more touring.
"With a huge respect I take my hat off to Tower of Power who
continue to inject soul vaccination into their performance -
you'd be a fool to miss this funk experience!!!"
