Having negotiated a 20 hour
flight from Barbados, Tom Brechtlein joined Chick Corea with
'Touchstone' to perform at The Barbican in London, U.K.
Chick Corea performed an acoustic set with two line-ups,
'Touchstone' with drummer Tom Brechtlein and the Akoustic
Band with Dave Weckl.
A complimenting blend of Sabian cymbals
for Touchstone's soft acoustic set
Tom's cymbals blended with
this soft acoustic set with Chick Corea. The 22" AA Raw Ride
with its earthy quality complmented the traditional ambience
of the 13" HHX 'Manhattan Jazz' Hats combined with the
shimmer of the 18" Sig. Ed Thigpen Crystal Ride and the lush
dark tones of his 17" and 18" HHXtreme crashes fused
brilliantly. Even in the quietest moments the delicate
sticking and beat patterns could be heard at that back of
this auditorium.
Tom's treatment of the cymbals and his finesse brought out
the best, rhythmically complimented in this contemporary
jazz environment.
