Taku Hirano is presently the
master percussionist with Fleetwood Mac - Jerome Marcus
hooked up with him at a packed London's Earls Court. Today
they performed their 81st gig in London after beginning this
tour in early May 2003 - the tour ends in 2004 in
Australia.
It's 8:06 PM on Sunday 30th November and Fleetwood Mac open
up with the unforgettable 'boom, boom, boom' from the bass
drum to kick off 'The Chain' and fly through a two and
three-quarter hour set (so may said maybe a tad too long)
encompassing new material from their new album 'Say You
Will' with tracks like 'The Peacemaker' and 'What Is The
World Coming To' ending with sing-a-long classics 'Go Your
Own Way' and 'Don't Stop'.

London audience embrace Fleetwood Mac's
nostalgic return to the UK
There were many magical
moments but one of the highlights of the show had to be Taku
Hirano's percussion solo. Surrounded by a multitude of TOCA
Latin and REMO World percussion instruments, Japanese taiko
drums, electronics and a whole array of SABIAN cymbals Taku
showed off his percussive skills only to impress this London
audience.

Taku Hirano caught on screen during his percussion solo
-
one of the highlights of the evening
He appears larger than life
injecting stage motivation (much needed for the two and
three quarter hour performance) but more importantly,
energises complicated percussive and signature interludes
especially on the classic cut 'Tusk'.
Taku remarks "This gig takes a lot of energy from you but
must be the most fun gig I've done".
Fleetwood Mac has seasoned this tour and no better time to
catch them 'live' now - has to be nostalgia at it's
best!
